final page

Got up at 10 – sent money orders to Whitmore and Smith for Dad’s book by Kagama and to Good English Magazine.   It is a gorgeous day do I walked around a bit.  Fixed some pictures las page1in a new album. Went to Velma’s & stayed to supper.  Took an angel food cake from the cafeteria.  It was luscious!  I think this is the last page I’ll write in this book – Adios!

*editors note – This is the final page of the Journal Mexico Summer. I am in the process of turning this into an e-book.   I will link the book to this website when it is complete. In the meantime there’s good news!  I have Grandma’s Diary that begins on January 12, 1936.

Sent Carsey’s letter along with one to Jeanette and cards to Silver City & Van Horn.  The dramatic club gave “The Robe of Wood”  by John Golden with a sub in the main part. I wasn’t so bad though – Alyce Claire went to Tatum in case Joyce’s “party” was pulled off  this week end! I went to  Mrs. Martens for Mexican Supper, Mrss Garrett and Charlotte St. John were there.   Played Rook and Cribbage after supper.  Very good time. Rosemary Wilrand(?) and husband & mother in-law were ever so he could take a Civil Service Exam. Rosemary & Oliver stayed in Alyce Claire’s room.  Five more school days in this semester!  Mr. heath has the mumps!  Poe Corn, too!

Sent in the 2nd installment of insurance ($30.00) today – Only one more payment for this year!  This time next week the exams will be under way!  I wrote a letter to Carsey tonight – just a card – to see if it gets a rise out of him.   I am not so sure when I’ll get up the nerve to send it!

Visited with Burdette’s in the evening – Saw Mrs. Martens and Mrs. Hightower in P.O. when we entered to pay bills, Yes!  today is pay-day!  Mrs. Martens has just returned from a month’s vacation in Nebraska with Mr. M’s people. Mr. Gilpin was at Burdette’s and their niece Mildred is still there.  It is Burdette’s wedding anniversary – eighteen years!!!

Snow covered the ground. Letter from Ty-Ty and Dit in Silver City and one from Pauline R in Dexter.   Finished making out Final Exam Questions.  Forgot to say that I saw Ms. Tomlimson Ford yesterday at Ms. Grady’s.  She is leaving son for California. She looks sweet, fragile and bewildered

Left Van Horn at 4:30. Jamie told me he thought he had a chance at the El Paso office in Chemistry!  Surely hope so!  At Pecos saw Bill MacDonald from Vegas – Rode part of the way with one of our negro teachers.  Got here at 12.  Ate lunch – Slept nearly all the time until 8 – Alyce Claire came then. She had a grand time.

Packed and got ready to return – Jamie, Jonathon, Mary Jo and Harry and I went to the The Glass Key (1935 film) poster.jpgshow “Glass Key”  Not so hot!  Jonathon slept a clock and a half! Drove both nights Wed. and Thurs. !! He surely tells of a hilarious time and good talks.

Was invited to a party at Wylies so I had and oil shampoo.  Eight tables then – As usual a rousing good time – Bill and Anges brought us home.  Jonathon returned
