Monday December 31, 1934

(This is an entry from the journal entitled Mexico Summer written by Elizabeth Lancaster Carsey 80-years-ago.  Click here to read more)

Had threatened to visit Carsey’s  Spanish class but decided to sleep instead.  Went at 4:30 to hear Valentin sing – but he didn’t come.  Wondered to town – picked up Joe Ben and some coffee.  Met Mr. Terrill_ The best looking of them all! He is Carsey’s roommate.  After supper I copied songs until Carsey and Jaime were ready to go to Smith’s to hear the boys sing – surely enjoyed listening to them and chiming in once in a while.  Peeped in at the “baile” but came back to play Bridge.  I told Carsey I thought I couldn’t go to the opera to be given next month! How I do want to go – and with Carsey – he is quite the satisfying companero for everything so it seems!  And I don’t care how serious this may sound, it’s true!  Slept little that night!

Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:
