Pauline came to stay all night, went to church with me.  I have played every night except Monday – Wrote to Ty-Ty about going to see her but I couldn’t make it. Missed that and the operas, too.  Glad to have Pauline.  Seemed like old times with Jeanette.

Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:

The man who became to be known as the Mussolini of America, Louisiana Gov. Howey Long,  uses Marshall Law to  prevent a riot in the Louisiana State Capital.  The photo below, is that of The Wonder Babies,   the first set of quintuplets known to survive infancy.  The Dionne babies, all girls,  were born two months premature in Canada on May 28, 1934 – and were made wards of the state for 9 years. Dr. Allan Ray Dafoe  (following article) delivered and cared for the babies their first year.  These were some of the first pictures released to media.
