Sunday January 6, 1935

(This is an entry from the journal entitled Mexico Summer written by Elizabeth Lancaster Carsey 80-years-ago.  Click here to read more)

Oasis Well, Roswell NM

Alyce Claire and I ate dinner at Johnston’s.  It rained in the afternoon and we went riding to the old Hagerman and the Oasis Ranches until 5 o’clock – Boring talk in League by Rev. Leroy Brown!   Sorry that I can’t like him – Alyce Claire and I held a buzz session after she came in –

mendicidd“La Mendicidad en Mexico” came and Burdettes gave it to me after church.  The name (Carsey)  was on the return address so there was quite an uproar over it – everyone seems to think Bernard should be my everything!

Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:

The New Deal is ready to spend $5 million on unemployment. Charles Lindbergh takes the stand and  Italy and France talk about World Peace.
