The Battle of Guadalajara began.

The steamship Mar Cantabrico, carrying war materiel from the United States to the Spanish Republic, was intercepted in the Bay of Biscay by the Nationalists who shot 26 members of the crew.

The title of Duke of Windsor was created for the former king Edward. His brother George Vi is on the cover of this week’s Time Magazine

Letter from Dit – says she is sure of the stork’s planned arrival – has some pillowcases and a bib laid up against the day! She is sure starting soon! Got a notice that I hadn’t paid for Correct English but I’m telling them I have. King George died last Monday night.

Went to S.S. but came home and washed and graded a few papers. A card from A.C. says Joyce is about the same but her kidneys wont work. A very bad sign!

Slept until 1:30 P.M! Some record – Graded a few papers and was thinking of going to supper when Foster called and wanted a date. We double-dated with Ellis and Ellen (?) Anderson who is bacteriologist for Dr. Haire. Saw the same show I saw yesterday but we rode around and had a good time until 11:30. No word from Alyce Claire
