Took Spanish Club (11 Mexicans, 1 American) to the Lakes, Ate supper at tea house. Everybody had a good time. Now I want to go swimming – don’t want to chaperone any more!

The Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth took place at Westminster Abbey in London.

BBC Television made its first outdoor broadcast to cover the king’s coronation procession

Took my home room to Bottomless Lakes – Mrs Roney helped chaperone them.   They went swimming and motor-boating – Good time.

The U.S. Ambassador to Germany William Dodd protested to German Foreign Minister Konstantin von Neurath about recent attacks on the United States in the German press. Von Neurath said he regretted the violent tone of the articles but did not give a formal reply
