The night for our S.S. class meeting. Over at Pal Marie Foster’s.  I am to give the talk or I wouldn’t go. I am so tired I ever saw!  I went and she has a darling apartment. One of the Twins on Richardson.

Had Earnest, Dick Heath, Betty Johnson, Bernard, Alyce Claire and I played Hearts up here.  Good time was had by all except perhaps Betty.

Thanked Bernard for his delicious candy! Went to a party given by Elizabeth Bludworth (9!) About 40 from my home room and that age were there.  Alyce Claire went too. Payed Winkum and Clap In, Clap Out! Very nice time though I am afraid that we tore up her new home somewhat.

This is the day I should have eaten chicken – dinner in the church with Bernard but as it is  my week on duty I nobly refused!  I received about 25 Valentines from the children at school – we a box in our home-room.  In the afternoon Bernard send me a beautiful silver and white checked heart box of candy from Kipling’s!!  Precious!! A letter from Ty-Ty this morning makes it a perfect day.  Choir practice and party for the girls chorus afterwards – Good time had by all!  Announcement of engagement of Juanita Young and Wayne Rapp!

Went to Mrs. Martens for Mexican supper to finish what we didn’t have yesterday noon!  Mrs. M told my and Alyce Claire’s fortune.  Told me I’d marry within 9 months!! And a “Club” man is rushing (!)me.  However a blond will come in for a share of it, too!  I wonder!  Am grading 92 English Standard Tests. Peugh!  Pooff!

Hauptmann is found GUILTY

February 13, 1935. Bruno Hauptmann, an ex-convict from Germany, is sentenced to death by electric chair for the abduction and murder of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh’s 20-month-old son. – See more here.

Had planned a dinner party at Dwight’s for Velma and Thelma’s birthday but Dwight had the flu so Bernard and I ate at the Cafeteria.  I went to Pete’s and Velma’s until he sent a telegram and worked a little (very little, I think!)  Got a Kodak picture of Pete and Velma.  Mrs. Martens for lunch.

Great airship, USS Macon, crashes into Pacific Ocean. Amazingly the entire crew survives.  

Also, today the 1st U.S. airplane flight with auto slung beneath fuselage, it happened in  New York.

The coldest temperature ever recorded on the Continent of Africa.   It was negative 11 in Ifrane, Morocco.

Abyssinia Crisis: Benito Mussolini mobilized 250,000 soldiers and ordered 50 planes to Eritrea.

The defense on the Hauptmann case rambles on in closing arguments.  The Italians are mobilizing for war in North Africa.

Woke up this morning to the sound of rain!   Now (2:00) it is snowing and has been since about 10:30 this morning.  Hope it keeps up all day.  Everybody is thrilled over it!
