Gaines arrived about 10 this morning!!!! Got all the gossip – Everybody OK in Ga. except Harold Moody who is paralyzed from the waist!  Yesterday we waxed floors and Harold G finished the baby bed.

The Siege of Cuartel de la Montaña ended in Republican victory.

The first long-range combat airlift in history took place when several Spanish aircraft on the Nationalist side transported a small number of troops from Spanish Morocco to Andalusia. The airlift across the Strait of Gibraltar was necessary because most of the Spanish Navy remained loyal to the government.

The Campaign of Gipuzkoa began.

The Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits was signed

 

 

 

 Benito Mussolini is on the cover of this week’s Time Magazine.

The show last night was really magnificent!  Well portrayed and good theme – Charlotte and Lorene Klyng, Mary Ownby, Julia Ruth Markham, Alyce Claire, and I went in a group.  Don’t hope to see a better for a long time.  Went for my new spring coat and loved it – Met up with Evelyn Polk and she agreed  to play tennis tomorrow.  Went to Martens for supper and cards in which latter past-time I was entirely unsuccessful!  I always enjoy them

The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered a reduction in basic rail passenger fares from 3.6 to 2 cents per mile everywhere in the United States

Lanora spent last night with me -We shopped a little.  I bought and sent home some towels.  Got “The Young Mrs. Meigs” by E. Corbett from the library yesterday.  Felt woozey all day. No supper

Al Smith announced in a radio address that due to his opposition to the New Deal, he would not be supporting Roosevelt in the 1936 election campaign as he had in 1932.
