Woke up to the sound of rain!  Rained all day – snowed about noon!  In May!! At noon Mr. Teague and Joyce Teague Kistler had come in and were “raring” to go to Van Horn.  Left at 4 after calling dad.  Van Horn was having a sand storm!  Got  about 40 miles south of Carlsbad and the lights on the car would not work while the engine ran.   So we stayed all night at a camp garage, luckily nearby

Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:

John Montijo, Date & Location Unknown (Source: Underwood)
J.G. Montijo

Night Riders wearing hoods kidnap two lawyers in Gallup, NM.  A book was later published about the incident.   Snow in May – helps control the dust and  J. G. Montijo,  Amelia Earhart’s flight instructor,  dies in a plane crash in Colorado.
