Ground Hog surely saw his shadow because there has ever been a more perfect day so far as the weather is concerned. Practiced some and rode in the afternoon with Edvina and Mrs. Johnston.  Met Miss Lucy Lee who lives across the street from me on Fourth.  Quite alive, she is! Rode to the Bottomless Lakes and saw what is evidently the keeper’s house – Quite attractive. Might be worth being keeper for!  Bernard and I went to Dwight’s and Velma’s for more Hearts.  Velma and Pete have been gone to Melrose all week. He has had one of his moody spells.  Dwight says he threatened to commit suicide, and Bernard says if he did it wouldn’t be the first time!  What a life for Velma!

Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:

The polygraph machine is used for the first time to bring a conviction. It happened in a Wisconsin court room.

A new Saturday Evening Post.
