Merry Christmas!  Happy Wedding Day for Dit!

The wedding was beautiful – the bride quite so in long blue velvet with pink carnations.  I had a corsage of 4 pink rosebuds – Pop said (!) that I was about as pretty as the bride!  Bob Hargrove (best man) had a rosebud for his button hole and Harold a gardenia!!  Mr. Jacobs sang “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways” and “Oh Promise me”.  Margaret Davis accompanied him.   The “Cruces” party had luncheon with us before the bridal couple left on the noon train for “Points West.”  We all forgot the rice but poor Harold almost walked into the coupler’s instead of up into the train! Quiet! Sweet, welcome quiet reigned throughout the afternoon. At night we heard “In a Monastery Garden” over the radio and I suddenly made up my mind where I would be married – in the rose garden of the Churubusco Convent* early in the  morning!!rose garden Quite improbable but the prettiest place I could think of for a wedding !  A few xmas gifts were exchanged.

*she is remembering her visit to the convent with Carsey Aug 14, 1934.  Read about it here.
