(This is an entry from the journal entitled Mexico Summer written by Elizabeth Lancaster Carsey 80-years-ago. )

Went to Wylies for dinner. Much fried chicken – Rosa Lee came to our house until the noon train came in at 4:05! Virginia and Marjie Dove drove in from Billings, Montana on their way to Florida and Washington D.C. for the summer!  Surely was pleasantly surprised. Virginia was D.P.U. graduate in ’31 and Marjie in ’32! Hadn’t seen them since my graduation in ’30!  Met Mr. and Mrs. Dove, too.

Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:

It is STIll raining in Texas and the flooding continues.  Mexico braces for Civil War.
