The story continues with the second journal. This is an entry from her personal diary, by Elizabeth Lancaster
Letter from Ty-Ty telling me to tell Mrs. Wheat the kind of water glasses I wanted – Wrote Mrs. Wheat. Finished “Sea of Grass” of Arnold’s and loved it. Read “Turnabout” (also his!) and laughed and laughed. The situation in it is so ridiculous! Heard last night that Bob Benson (Seminole) was killed – Know no particulars – June Wallace (boy) came to see Alyce Claire yesterday and told her. He left today. She has said “no” to both June and Ed this week. She cant be interested after they begin to get serious! I have a slight cold.
Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:
The Battle of Pingxingguan ended in Chinese victory.
Benito Mussolini arrived in Munich on the first day of a five-day official visit to Germany.
Geelong defeated Collingwood in the VFL Grand Final.
