Letter from Ty-Ty. Another discourse on marriage, reciting the case of young Dr. Carsey! Poor Boy! Says the last flowers I sent had on the card “from Elizabeth and Bernard Johnston”! She wisely requests both surnames or none, and I didn’t know he had anything to do with sending the until tonight – Last night I went to President’s Ball with Dwight and Velma Glover, her sister and husband. Good time. Dwight made us each a corsage. Maybe I’d like to go with a greenhouse man! As a result of going to bed late, I am grouchy today. Tried not to be and succeeded pretty well until tonight at choir practice. I tried to get Miss Perry to take the organ Sunday as I could go to Tatum. She had other plans – everything went wrong after that. I perhaps talked unnecessarily to Mrs. Burdette and then I blew up to Mr. Akin because I had nothing against him and he is a good listener. Maybe I’ll have to stay here anyway this week-end and I guess it won’t kill me. Letter from Jonathon this afternoon asking for my Indian ring! Guess I’ll break down and send it to him!
Here’s what else was happening 80-years-ago today:
Hauptmann’s Defense produces alibi’s , another shoot-out nets a gangster and President’s Balls took place across the country last night.
