About Shanna Vicker

I was lucky enough to be a part of my Grandmother Elizabeth Carsey's last 40 years. We played countless card games, read books, played dress-up and many other games at her house. My family spent almost every holiday with her and Grandpa (until his death in 1985.) She was loved by the entire neighborhood and was often referred to as the Neighborhood Grandma. I held a special pride in the fact that I could call her mine! Through her simplicity, she taught me the basics of life and the things which make you happy. Love your family, your church and music. The only thing worth crying over is beautiful music. And above all else, approach life with a sense of humor. I have done my best to live up to her expectations and pass those lessons onto my children.

Everything’s a mild uproar – house to be cleaned, church decorated, wedding practiced, buffet luncheon to be fixed besides attending the Christmas Tree.  Card from Carsey like I looked everywhere for!  The pictures and drawing on the front reminds me of the church between Puebla and Cholula – anyway one of those we saw!  Card from Franklin, too; rather elaborate!  We were so silly in the practice of the wedding – too many attendant functions –

Finished Christmas packing and shopping. Got my new coat – like it muchly.  Found out I could go home by Pecos much easier so I called the family long distance and told him so!  Seemed nice to hear his voice – wished I’d asked to say hello to some of the others – seemed late (12 by their time) to have them up!  Packed and got ready to leave early tomorrow (3 P.M.)

Played for Mrs. Martens to sing at CCC Camp.  Went out in Bernard’s car with Mrs. Hanson.  Mrs. Martens and a Mr. Cooley – The gentlemen sang a chorus – very good program.  Came back and we three went to to Pete and Velma’s for our usually hilarious time. Letter from Jonathon, made me decide to get the family something for Christmas!

Hazel Hanson’s wedding to Chris Huston took place at 10 o’clock.  ‘Twas a very nice affair.  Charlotte St. John caught the bride’s bouquet! Punch and tiny cakes were served afterwards.  Deposited checks and shopped a little in the forenoon.  Practiced with Charlotte for Sunday and with Dorothy Darron. Had letters from home.
