 Two letters from Mary Jo telling me of getting the dresses!  I thought she’d never write and sure enough the letters were delayed one place LloydsOfLondonFilm.jpgor another! All is fogiven. Next to last curriculum meeting tonight. Nellie Monroe Cullender and I saw “Lloyds of London”  last night and had a good visit  – Horror of Horrors!  They are taking my Spanish away from me!  Only one teacher will be needed next year because they are not requiring it for graduation!  Woe is me!  Maybe someone else will have a need for Spanish teacher, huh?

60,000 auto workers striking against Chrysler ended a 17-day work stoppage after a tentative settlement was reached.

Eight middle aged white men, seven wearing three piece suits and one wearing an overcoat that obscures what he's wearing beneath, stand in two rows in front of some steps.
William Aberhart’s first cabinet, pictured with him in 1935, remained intact until late in 1936.

Social Credit backbenchers’ revolt: By a vote of 27 to 25, a motion was carried in the Alberta legislature over the protest of Premier William Aberhart to adjourn the debate on his government’s budget.

The National Labor Relations Board issued a ruling in the Remington Rand strike, finding that Remington Rand committed acts of deceit, economic warfare and union breaking. The company was ordered to reinstate all strikers with back pay and recognize the union, but owner James Rand, Jr. refused and the strike continued.

The first time in three weeks the Ohio River was below flood level at most stages. Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana were all affected, 385 died and property loss reached $500  million. (close to 9 billion today)
